Doug’s Tarkus Plate – Updated!

Remember Doug’s Tarkus license plate had one signature missing? Well, he recently mailed me an updated picture of it, and it now has all three of our boys’ autographs. I’m glad he got them all to sign this unique piece of memorabilia, found on our Memorabilia Page.

Got a piece of Greg Lake or ELP memorabilia or ephemera you’d like us to feature? Let us know! Send us an email and we’ll showcase your treasures.

Happy Holidays from the Ladies

We must try not to be sad and celebrate the Holiday season and the good things that it brings. So without further ado, we shall as in seasons past, post our very first video from way back in the days before YouTube even existed 🙂

This was so hard to make, remember, T? We had to kludge together a VHS tape with an audio track and speed it up or down to make it fit right. I thought it came out pretty well for what we had to work with.

One year ago…

…today, Mr. Lake was taken from us. Today we remember the dreaded anniversary with a moment of silence and most likely a few tears. Rest in peace, dear man. Thank you for all you brought us: the joys of your music and the laughter of your friendship.

RIP Greg Lake

Happy 70th Birthday to Mr. Lake in Music Heaven

Today we remember Mr. Greg Lake on what would have been his 70th birthday. It’s also the first time since 2001 that we haven’t had a virtual birthday card on this site that we’ve collected signatures from fans to send to him. So it’s with much sadness that we say, Happy Birthday up there in Music Heaven, Mr. Lake – I know you’re jamming with Keith and all the other greats that have passed on before you. R.I.P. good and kind sir. We sure do miss you.

R.I.P., Mr. Tony Ortiz

We’re extremely saddened to learn of Tony Ortiz’ passing. We know that he had been suffering from the devastating effects of his condition for the last few years and just wanted to pay tribute to ELP’s Number One Fan and Archivist. Tony, you contributed much to this site, and were the one who got Greg to sign our Ladies of the Lake tee shirt all those years ago. We owe you a debt of gratitude and wish you Godspeed on your final journey. You kept the ELP flame burning bright and never wavered in your dedication, all the way to the end. There’ll never be another like you. Rest in peace.

Janis Ian on Greg Lake – song she worked on with him has been posted

Janis Ian posted on her Facebook Page on Dec. 9th about her collaboration with Greg Lake when he was with The Shame, and has also posted about further collaboration between the two of them on a song which was never published. She has posted the song as well; see the Facebook post and link to the song here. Thanks to Mari Kawaguchi (the late Keith Emerson’s partner) for bringing it to our attention)
