Greg Lake has passed away

December 8th, 2016 – 6:25 am

We are heartbroken to share this announcement from Stewart Young this morning:

Yesterday, December 7th, I lost my best friend to a long and stubborn battle with cancer. Greg Lake will stay in my heart forever, as he has always been. His family would be grateful for privacy during this time of their grief.

Many thanks,
Stewart Young

I am truly devastated hearing of Greg’s passing. He amazingly touched everyone, every heart with his compassion, love of music, animals & people. My regret is that I never had the extreme pleasure of hearing him in concert. His genius will always live on & his contribution to music will never be forgotten. I will always love his “storytelling” about his musical journey & will treasure the early black & white clips on the DVD’s. He was able to inspire all of us with his beautiful angelic voice & brilliant melodies & lyrics. Greg was even able to reach my autistic adult son who everyday must play “Epitaph” repeatedly without ceasing. I am glad that his suffering is over & he can contribute to the heavenly chorus above. We will all miss this beautiful soul as there will never be another like him. Thoughts & prayers for Regina, Natasha, Dewey & Gabriel. Luv, Mary Ann B.

I was shocked by this news yesterday. Greg Lake is going to be remembered by many… he wrote Lucky Man when he was 12, and i was 12 when I first heard it and loved him and his amazing voice ever since. I met him in Seattle in May 2012, on his songs of a lifetime tour. My condolences to Regina and Natasia and Gabriel

I am crushed. Why does someone who was such a wonderful human being and gave so much of himself to us have to go through an ending like that?

Barry, that’s one of those questions we cannot answer. It just seems so unfair, doesn’t it? So much sadness this week.

I am so, so sad. I have been as big a fan as you “Ladies of the Lake” and have seen some of you at his concerts. My condolences to you. I have such a hole in my heart. Words just can’t express the loss, but we all share in feeling these emotions. Bless all of you, and bless his family.

I’m very saddened by that news. I was fortunate enough to see them all together. I’m a ‘Lucky Man!’
